Bogue Chitto Canoeing and Tubing is the oldest river operator in the Parish, now run by the second generation of the family. “Flo” down the river, but be careful of turning “Red” in the sun. Mrs. Flo was a character, and she and Mr. Red left the business in capable hands. Your choice of canoe, kayak, or tube is available and length of float varies from 1, 2, to 4 hours. There are some camping sites, including tent camping, at the facility.
Sandy Bottoms (formerly Rocky Bottom) Tubing and Canoeing has relocated. Now open at 42702 VFW Rd just west of Franklinton. Two and four hour trips available, Tubing, canoeing and kayaking; trampoline tubes coming soon.
In Bogalusa, Cassidy Park offers a walking trail, a splash pad area, and playground (some areas may remain closed). A few blocks away, Goodyear Park also has a walking track and playground. Walkers have always used the shade of Cassidy Park and Goodyear to get their steps in, and now they can expand the route and take in both via a paved path between the two parks.
Finally, there is Pools Bluff south of Bogalusa. Here you find one of the boat launch areas, a walking trail with picnic area and gazebo, along with a Veteran’s Memorial.
